I don’t have enough hard drive space to install the LEGO® DIMENSIONS updates. How do I get more space?

You may be able to increase the amount of hard drive space available to you by purchasing external memory that is compatible with your game console.  Please check with your system manufacturer to determine which specific hard drive is recommended for your console.

Wii U- This console supports USB external hard drives.  Nintendo offers a list of hard drives that have been tested to be compatible with the Wii U™ on their website.

When you connect a new external hard drive and power on the Wii U™ console, a message should appear that prompts you to format the USB storage device. Follow the on screen instructions to format the device.

Xbox 360– This console supports USB external hard drives or USB flash memory that has a minimum of 1 GB of free space.

To connect and format additional USB memory for your Xbox 360, follow the below steps:

1.    With the device inserted, enter the system settings menu.
2.    Select storage then select your USB device.
3.    Choose the “Configure Now” option. The X360 will run a check on your device to verify it will function with the console.
4.    If you have a compatible device, it will now be ready to use. You will note the USB device now reads “Memory Unit” in the menu.

Xbox One – This console supports USB external hard drives with a capacity of at least 256 GB of memory and which use USB 3.0.

When you first connect an external storage device with your Xbox One, the console should detect the device and walk you through the process of setting it up.

Once you have formatted the external memory for your console, to save new data to this memory follow the below steps:

1.    Launch the LEGO® Dimensions game
2.    The message “In order to play LEGO Dimensions® you need to install XX MB of data. Please select a storage device with the required space available when prompted. For the best performance it is recommended to install to the Xbox One Hard Drive.” will appear.
3.    Press A to bring up the storage selection
4.    Select a storage device and the title begins to install the data with the following message: “Installing. % complete. Please don't turn off the console.”
5.    Install completes and the title continues to the Start Screen

PLAYSTATION 3 and PLAYSTATION  4 – External hard drives are not supported for gameplay on these consoles. Internal hard drives can be upgraded to a larger size. Instructions for upgrading internal hard drives are available on the manufacturer’s support site.
