How to reprogram your LEGO® Vehicle or Accessory Toy Tag

The LEGO® Toy Tags that come with your vehicles and/or accessories come blank by default, but are programmed within the LEGO® Dimensions game. If you need to reprogram one of your Toy Tags, please follow the steps below:

Take the character piece associated with the vehicle and/or accessory and place it on the LEGO® Toy Pad. (For example, Homer Simpson would be the character associated with Homer’s Car and the Taunt-o-Vision)

If the character associated with the vehicle/accessory is not your active character, press and hold the Triangle button (on PLAYSTATION), the Y button (on Xbox) or the X button (on WiiU) until a character wheel appears on your screen. Select that character from the character wheel which will make it your active character.

Press and hold the Triangle button (on PLAYSTATION), the Y button (on Xbox) or the X button (on WiiU); this time select the option in the bottom center of the screen which looks similar to that of a blueprint and tools.

On the screen that appears you will be presented with the vehicles/accessories that this character is able to build.  Select the vehicles/accessories you would like to program. If there is just one vehicles/accessory associated with the character it will just default to that vehicles/accessory.

Advance through the build instruction pages until you reach the end. From there you should see on-screen instructions that walk you through programming the Toy Tag and will be prompted to place the vehicles/accessory Toy Tag on the center section of the LEGO® Toy Pad.

After performing these steps your vehicle/accessory should be re-programmed to the appropriate piece.

If the vehicle or gadget you would like to build is part of a Level Pack, you will need to play through some part of the level pack’s game level to unlock the instructions as part of the level’s storyline. Once you get to the part of the level that requires the use of said character’s vehicle or gadget, Build Instructions will be presented.
